Woodward Part number 8280-206 is a low-voltage unit in the company's 723 digital speed control family with a rated power supply of 18 to 40 Vdc (nominal values of 24 or 32 Vdc). This is a DSLC/MSLC gateway speed control/power generation model. For high voltage versions, see Model 8280-207.

The 8280-206 digital speed controller has a self-diagnostic function integrated into the device functions. Diagnostic tests include monitoring the controller's baseline power, memory, and processor.

The set points of this 723 digital speed control unit are programmed and adjusted using a handheld programmer, also manufactured by Woodward (part number 9907-205). The programmer plugs into one of the 8280-206 serial ports for direct access to the controller's set points through the menu. These set points are then stored in permanent memory without relying on an external power source to retain the data.

The 8280-206 controller has a two-speed signal input with a speed input voltage of 1.0 to 50 Vrms. The 723 speed controller has discrete and analog inputs.
