For twin-engine Marine applications, the Model 8280-1173 offers a range of features such as clutch control and allowing logic, elastic coupling twist filters, manifels or external fuel limits, and single throttle operation during clutch operation in medium/high speed diesel engines (over 100 rpm).

The Woodward 723PLUS model 8280-1173 has numerous I/ OS, including a 4-20 mA remote speed control input, a 4-20 mA manifold or external fuel input, and redundant communication ports for displaying control status between load and clutch control. The control also has eight discrete inputs for:

Run/stop

Clutch request

Clutch condition

Idle/rated

Increase speed

Low speed

Overspeed test or emergency clutch (configurable contacts)

Alert reset or Dynamics 2 (configurable contacts)

The output of the 8280-1173 controller consists of three configurable 4-20 mA outputs. These outputs can be configured as:
