The digital control is part of Woodward's 723 position control system. Model 8262-092 offers 20-160mA actuator output. The 723 position controller is also available for 4-20mA actuator outputs (Model 8262-094).

Model 8262-092 protects the turbine system from overspeed conditions by providing an actuator output signal in the event of a turbine control failure. The 723 model 8262-092 is designed for use with the Woodward 505 digital turbine control. If a 505 control failure occurs, the 723 position control automatically takes over as the actuator signal source.

If the actuator signal source is switched from the 505 controller to the 723 controller, the actuator output signal is manually raised or lowered after the switch. When the 505 control function is restored, the actuator signal source switches back from the 723 control.

There are some accessories that can be used with the 8262-092 controller. Part number 9907-205 is Woodward's handheld programmer that plugs into serial port J1 of this location controller to adjust and monitor its functionality. The 723 position controller can also be operated using the optional panel 723 operation board.
