Part number 8230-3012 is a low-voltage (18-40 Vdc, nominal 24 or 32 Vdc) 723PLUS generator controller. The Woodard control model can be used in applications where large frequency shifts may occur. The 723PLUS series generator controllers are available for island mode systems as well as base loads. These controls are designed for Marine applications with auxiliary generators and diesel-electric propulsion.
The 723PLUS model 8230-3012 has three operating modes: voltage drop control, synchronous load distribution, and MW control. Both synchronous load distribution and MW control have soft load/unload and automatic generator breaker open commands after engine unloading.
The Woodward controller 8230-3012 has multiple digital and analog inputs/outputs. There are also three communication ports on this control. RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 can be used with this control to allow Modbus communication via one of the device's serial ports. One of the ports is also available for handheld programmers, part number 9907-205. The Woodward programmer is used to adjust configurable setpoints and parameters for the 723PLUS 8230-3012.
Other Woodward accessories for this generator controller include digital synchronizer and Load Control (DSLC), SPM-A synchronizer and active power sensor (MW sensor). The 723PLUS Generator Control Manual 37827 provides more information on using these accessories with the 8230-3012 controller.
