Model 8290-187 is a synchronous speed control unit. The product is designed for prime movers and is part of the Woodward electric governor family. Although no longer produced by the manufacturer, this speed Control unit and others in the same family can be found via AX Control. The 8290-187 is specifically designed to operate on turbine prime movers powered by natural gas or diesel.
It consumes up to 60 watts of power and has a minimum magnetic pickup input of 1.5 VRMS. Product 8290-187 is only suitable for certain actuator types (512 or 1712) and can be installed near the actuator and battery of the turbine. When installing speed controls, use 14 AWG and 12 AWG wires. It complies with EU directives.
The device uses dual dynamics with starting fuel limit and switch selection, and can also be optionally used with load sharing accessories. Adding this speed control product to the actuator and magnetic pickup creates an entire EPG system.
