Model 8256-086 is a Woodward actuator. It comes from the electric governor family and, when combined with magnetic pickups and speed control, will form a complete EPG system. The actuator can be used in low-friction and low-mass prime movers designed to ensure that it can handle high temperatures. It is equipped with starting fuel limit and safety circuitry. The product also uses load sensors and auxiliary inputs to ensure the model is functioning properly.

The actuator is designed with a sealed bearing and has a cast aluminum structure. This gives the model long-lasting corrosion resistance. Sealed bearings eliminate the need for actuator maintenance. Model 8256-086 will consume up to 95 watts of power, but no more, and be powered by a 24-volt battery. The actuator can be mounted on the engine skid and uses A 10 A slow fuse. Model 8256-086 uses the idle function with a 50 KA potentiometer.
