The 8256-012 comes from the Woodward EPG series, which consists of multiple components that each work together to maintain and control speed levels in diesel, gas, and gasoline engines, as well as gas turbines. The controls are designed for specific engine applications.

The Model 8256-013 is a Woodward actuator best suited for prime movers. It is part of the Woodward Electric Governor range and can be used in gasoline, diesel or gas engines. The actuator uses counterclockwise rotation, as well as synchronous speed control and droop speed control. While these models are capable of withstanding high temperatures, they should operate in a temperature range of -40 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Excessive temperatures may damage the product and the entire EPG system. The actuator is only one of three parts of a complete EPG system.
