Module 5466-1246 is the MicroNet Plus Real-time Networking Network-ready Enhanced performance unit. This particular module is not located in the host rack of the selected chassis, but in the extension rack. The main operational function of this module is to compile the data from the local I/O module and relay the data to the CPU in the host rack, while ensuring that the rack's failover control receives redundant signals.

Some of the features of the 5466-1246 module include service ports, two live network ports, 64 MB flash memory, 128 MB DDR RAM, and a MOTOROLA MPC5200 processor. The module is also capable of operating in redundant and simplex systems. Note that when this module is running in a redundant system, a maximum of two remote RTN modules can be installed in each selected extension chassis.
