The actuator controller module is manufactured by Woodward and released as part of its NetCon controller family. The series is available in several versions, with the model part number indicating the maximum output current capability of the module. The 5501-430 is the 2mA version of the 50-channel actuator control module in the NetCon series.

The 5501-430 has A power rating of +5 V @ 0.5 A and +24 V @ 1 A, and the module's position accuracy rating is 25.25% of full scale @ 0 °C. When it is secured to the card rail in the controller case, it is connected to the motherboard. To release the motherboard connector, pull the module out using the two handles located at the top and bottom. It should be noted that the 5501-430 requires MicroNet low density discrete (gray) cable and should not use analog (black) cable.

For the 5501-430, up to two position feedback devices (LVDT, RVDT) can be used on each actuator channel.
