Released in Woodward's NetCon controller family, Model 5501-429 is a 2-channel actuator controller module. Each channel of this two-channel model controls a proportional or integrated, pneumatic or hydraulic mechanical actuator.

The model 5501-429 is the 25mA version. The module has A power requirement of +5 V @ 0.5 A, +24 V @ 1 A, and a maximum load resistance of 10/30 mA (maximum). The NetCon Controller series models represent the maximum output current capability of the module and are available in several versions.

One or two position feedback devices (LVDT, RVDT) can be used on each actuator channel on the 5501-429. The module has a variety of fault detection functions, including excitation, feedback, and driver related error alarms. Position errors, logic power, microcontroller activity, and CPU modules are also monitored.

The 5501-429 features a red fault LED to indicate equipment status and enable efficient troubleshooting. If the controller is not communicating with the CPU module, you can see a steady LED. If the LED blinks, there is an internal problem and the module should be replaced.

When the module is secured to the card rail in the controller enclosure, the module is inserted into the motherboard. The module can be pulled out using two handles located at the bottom and top. It should be noted that the 5501-429 requires MicroNet low density discrete cables.
