Part 9907-151 is a 203 V AC overspeed protection in the Woodward ProTech 220 series. This is a power-off trip model that detects overspeed by monitoring the prime mover speed using a magnetic pickup (MPU). If the speed sensing unit detects and confirms overspeed through a two-thirds hardware vote, the trip relay is activated.

ProTech Model 9907-151 has visual and auditory alarms to indicate travel. These include LED indicators, alarm outputs, and error codes on the device's LCD display. Possible reasons for travel include:

The current speed of the unit exceeds the trip set point value

Internal hardware problem

The overspeed test makes the current speed higher than the trip set point

MPU failure, such as sudden loss of speed

Disconnected internal cable

The MPU signal is lost

The MPU fault timed out

When the device is in PROGRAM mode, parameters such as trip setpoint and MPU fault timeout can be set, which can only be accessed by using a single key switch connected to all three speed sensing units. Each time a device trips, it must be reset to come back online (or the power supply must be restarted). The unit must also be reset before the turbine can be started. ProTech Model 9907-151 allows the device to be reset from a remote location through the system's remote reset feature.
