The type 9907-147 uses magnetic pickups to monitor primer speed under overspeed conditions. This family of devices is susceptible to electromagnetic interference, vibration, moisture, and temperatures outside the operating temperature range of -25 to +60 °C (-13 to +140 °F). ProTech overspeed protection models should be installed in a location that allows adequate ventilation for cooling, provides service space, is away from direct sunlight, and is away from high current or high voltage equipment.

This power-off trip system has a speed sensing frequency range of 100 Hz to 32 kHz and an accuracy class of ± (0.05% x jump point, Hz +2 Hz). The overspeed detection function is performed by three independent speed sensing units that operate independently to monitor speed and perform speed calculations. These three units are in a two-thirds voting configuration, so prime mover trip relays occur only when at least two units detect overspeed conditions.

The ProTech overspeed protection model 9907-147 has a jump point frequency range of 250 Hz to 25 kHz. Use the operating interface to program trip setpoints individually for each unit (they must be programmed in the same way to get accurate output). Each speed sensing unit has an interface. Each has:
