The 9905-992 is a ProTech power-off to trip model. The overspeed protection device is one of two input voltage models. Speed sensing units A and B each have a 24 Vdc power supply, while Unit C has a 120 Vac/dc power supply. Other than that, the three units are identical.

A key feature of the Type 9905-992 is the operator interface. There are three on the front panel, one for each speed sensing unit. The LCD and keyboard on the interface are used to program the system and set parameters such as MPU fault set points and trip speed set points. Access to PROGRAM mode is limited by the position of the key switch to switch between modes. This key switch is located in the key lock housing.

When the ProTech 9905-992 system is in monitoring mode, the LCD also displays many parameters. This includes:

Current speed (default first parameter displayed)

Peak velocity

Reason for trip (if applicable)

MPU fault option trip

MPU gear teeth

MPU failure set point

The MPU failure timed out

Trip speed set point

When the function does not work properly, an error code is displayed. Certain issues, such as device tripping or MPU failure, can also trigger the LED function status indicator to light up. If the device trips, the alarm output will sound.
