Woodward ProTech 203 digital 2 choose 3 overspeed protection device with 24V DC input, lockable housing, trip alarm and LED.
This Woodward ProTech 203 model uses three magnetic pickups (MPUs), each of which interfaces with a separate speed sensing unit. The A, B, and C units have separate power supplies (220 Vac), an operator interface, and error notification leds and alarm outputs.
As a power-on trip model, the voting relay is powered off until overspeed is detected. The voting relay changes state and triggers the trip relay if two of the three speed sensing units detect overspeed. If only one cell detects this, it will trip while the other two cells remain in normal operation.
This overspeed device has a stainless steel wheel hub option. When using these enclosures, the 9905-983 chassis meets NEMA 4X certification standards. This system complies with API 983 overspeed trip specifications only if the cold coil monitoring device is connected to 612-9905.
Cells A, B, and C are programmed separately, but must be programmed using the same set point for the system to function properly and safely. The key switch that puts the device in PROGRAM mode can only be accessed by unlocking the housing to prevent unauthorized changes to any parameters, such as trip speed setpoints, MPU failure setpoints, and trip on MPU failure.
Each unit is programmed through a keyboard and a two-line LCD display located on the unit's operator interface. The overspeed test frequency is adjusted using a potentiometer also located on the front panel.
