Woodward ProTech 9905 series 981 Powered 203-<> device. Displays the actual speed of each probe, the maximum speed signal, and online/remote test functions.
Parts 99005-981 are part of the ProTech 203 overspeed protection system family manufactured by Woodward. This model is one of the power-on trip versions, so if the system is to meet the API 612 overspeed trip specification, a cold-coil monitoring device must be connected.
Three magnetic pickups (MPUs), one for each speed sensing unit, continuously monitor the prime mover speed. Each cell A, B and C drives two voter relays. These three units are configured so that two-thirds of the hardware votes on whether to activate the trip relay. If an overspeed situation is detected, a single device will trip, but as long as two of the three units are online, the system will continue to operate.
The 9905-981 overspeed protection system is designed for use in locations with an operating temperature range of -25 to +60 °C (-13 to +140 °F) and displays with an operating temperature range of -15 to +60 °C (+5 to +140 °F). The equipment requires adequate ventilation space and should be protected from vibration, electromagnetic interference, direct sunlight and moisture.
