The dual-relay overspeed protection has three displays on the front panel and one for each of the three speed sensing units in the housing. Each unit also has its own keyboard and function status LED. The internal unit is configured for two-thirds hardware voting. The three units in the ProTech 9905-903 dual relay overspeed protection can be programmed separately, but must be programmed using the same jump point to function properly.
The 9905-903 device is programmed using the display and keyboard on the front panel. Program mode access is limited to users who have key access to the NEMA 4 chassis. Some of the adjustable parameters provided by the 9905-903 device include the trip speed set point, MPU fault set point, and MPU failure timeout. A complete list of adjustable parameters and programming instructions can be found in the Woodward ProTech 203 Overspeed Protection System Manual 85201.
The operator can view each of the nine parameters on three LCD displays on the front panel of the 9905-903. The current speed of the corresponding speed sensing unit is the default first parameter displayed. These front panel LCDS are also used to display error messages, including MPU failure, no reset, MPU > Trip Settings, and more.
The Woodward Manual 85201 has more specifications for the 9905-203 overspeed equipment as well as location requirements, environmental requirements, etc., but Woodward recommends consulting more manuals before installing this system. Manuals 82715, 82510, 50532, and 85562 all contain information related to the proper handling and operation of this ProTech 203 dual relay model.
