The 9905-885 Woodward ProTech 203 consists of three identical independent speed sensing units that continuously monitor the prime mover speed and activate the trip relay
ProTech 203 Model 9905-885 is an overspeed protection system with a NEMA 4X standard housing (if optional stainless steel wheels are used). The device uses a magnetic pickup (MPU) to detect overspeed and activate the trip relay when conditions are met. Model 9905-885 is a power trip model with three identical speed sensing units.
This model has a speed sampling time of 5ms and a total response time of only 40ms. It has a speed sensing frequency range of 100 Hz to 32 kHz. ProTech 203 Model 9905-885 has an accuracy class of 0.1% (at 25 °C).
When a trip relay occurs, it is indicated by the alarm output and the LED in front of the trip speed sensing unit. The two-thirds voting configuration of the cells means that if only one cell trips, the system can continue to operate. If two units trip, the system will stop operating. The 9905-885 system has a jump point frequency range of 250 Hz to 25 kHz.
The 9905-885 system has three operating interfaces on the front, one for each unit inside. These ports feature a dual-row LCD, keyboard, and their own set of LED function status indicators. LCD can display the current speed, peak speed, trip speed set point and trip reason and other parameters.
