Model 9905-878 is a power trip model and is part of the ProTech 203 overspeed protection system manufactured by Woodward. This model operates at 24 VDC. The storage module on the 9905-878 device is NEMA 4X.
Woodward's ProTech 203 Model 9905-878 is designed for reliable overspeed protection. This model is just one of many ProTech 203 models. Both versions have the same power supply in the A, B, and C units. One of them is Unit 9905-878 and the other is 9905-869, which has a NEMA 4 housing that makes the two different. This two-thirds hardware voting device allows normal operation and provides accurate output provided two of the three speed sensing units are online, which allows for hot replacement and testing of individual units while the prime mover is online and continuing operation if one of the units trips. A single MPU failure does not cause accidental turbine tripping.
Each of the three speed sensing units in the Model 9905-878 has a 24 Vdc power supply (18-32 Vdc, 7.25 W voltage range). Each device generates +5 V and +24 V, isolated from the input voltage.
