Model 9905-873 Three units are connected in a two-thirds voting configuration, so if any single unit fails, the ProTech system will still provide the correct output.

The Type 9905-873 overspeed protection device is a power-off trip model. As with the other models in the ProTech 203 overspeed protection system family, the prime mover speed is monitored and calculated by three independent speed sensing units. These units are all contained in the same keylock housing and comply with NEMA 4 and IP 65 standards.

There are several benefits to using overspeed protection systems in this modular design. The two-thirds voting configuration of three cells ensures accurate output even if one of the three cells is offline. As a result, any single speed sensing unit in the 9905-873 system can be tested or even replaced without taking the prime mover offline.

The three speed sensing units in the 9905-873 overspeed protection system are almost identical. They all interface with their own magnetic pickup (MPU), perform their own speed calculations, have their own operator interface, and have their own power supply. The only difference between these units is that in the 9905-873 model, units A and B each have a 24 Vdc power supply, while the power supply for Unit C is 220 Vac.
