The 9905-750 ProTech 203 Woodward overspeed trip device senses prime mover speed via three magnetic pickups

9905-750 is a power trip overspeed protection device. This model is part of the Woodward ProTech 203 series, which uses MPUs in three identical speed sensing units to monitor overspeed conditions. Model 9905-750 is a 220 Vac version. Each unit in the system has its own power supply that can produce +5 V and +24 V, isolated from the input voltage.

The actual unit speed is displayed on the front panel, of which there are three; One for each speed sensing unit. It is through these panels that each unit is programmed, which can only be done with keylock access to prevent unauthorized programming or testing. This is also where the speed test frequency can be adjusted with the potentiometer. All three units are housed in the same locked NEMA 4X certified housing.
