Woodward ProTech 8200-206 Overspeed protection power-on trip unit 203. 24Vdc input, lockable housing, trip alarm and LED. The power-on trip feature of this model will operate on a 24 VDC power supply.

The 8200-206 device was released by Woodward for the ProTech 203 overspeed protection series. The ProTech 203 system operates by sensing the prime mover speed with three separate magnetic pickups (MPUs). Each MPU is connected to a separate speed sensing unit within the system. The Model 8200-206 is a 24 Vdc input, power trip model.

The three speed sensing units in the 8200-206 system are enclosed in a locked housing. Key access is required to switch between monitor and program modes. In addition, these units operate independently of each other, constantly monitoring for overspeed and/or loss of input conditions. They are configured for the two-out-of-three voting method.

Testing, servicing, or replacing any single speed sensing unit in the 8200-206 Overspeed protection system requires virtually no operational downtime. The configuration of the cells allows two units to maintain full control of the system while the third unit is offline.

The functional status of the 8200-206 system is indicated by individual LED indicators on the front panel. Some individual leds indicate:

The local CPU is incorrectly operated

Trip speed sensing (there is a separate alarm output for this case)

The 8200-206 system is only intended for use in non-hazardous locations. It should be installed where it is protected from sunlight, water, and vibration, and maintained within an operating temperature range of -25 to +60 °C (-13 to +140 °F).
