Woodward's 8200-200 is a feature-rich digital overspeed trip device in the company's ProTech 203 overspeed protection family. The system uses three magnetic pickups (MPUs) to detect the prime mover speed, sampling every 5 ms, and its built-in frequency generator can test one unit at a time while the prime mover is online. The 8200-200 is one of the 24V DC input power-on trip models in the series. It has a speed detection frequency range of 100Hz to 32kHz and a jump point frequency range of 250Hz to 25kHz.

This model has a remote reset and alarm output to provide reliable protection against conditions beyond normal parameters. Using a separate LED to indicate issues such as MPU failure, CPU operating improperly, or speed sensing unit trip allows for fast response times.

The 8200-200 features a touchpad and LCD display. The model uses three separate speed sensing units, each with its own power supply. There is a key lock feature that places all three units in one of two modes: display or program. This single-key locking method ensures that the entire 8200-200 system is set to the same mode at the same time, easily preventing unauthorized changes.
