Woodward 505 digital governor for steam turbines with single or split range actuators. Part 9907-163 has an 18-32 VDC power supply and is a microprocessor-based controller.

The device belongs to a family developed by the Woodward Company, America's oldest and leading manufacturing company. These units are designated as Series 505/505E digital control units and are used to operate one or both split actuators in the steam turbine to drive the inlet steam valve.

This is the traditional AC 505, DC 505 components. It is rated as a Class 1 Area 2 location.

The model 9907-163 is a governor unit capable of handling all turbine operating parameters. These models are equipped with internal microprocessor modules that allow them to control turbines as well as other similar devices, such as turbine generators or expander modules.

The 9907-163 is equipped with a range of printed circuit boards that allow the device to run and process commands. These boards are protected by the device frame, however, there is an option to provide an additional layer of protection for the unit. This includes the NEMA 4X tiered protection framework. Once connected, it can still be safely and reliably installed in the control panel system. However, the acceptable ambient temperature range dropped slightly, from a high intensity of 65°C to 55°C.
