 Unit 8440-1705 is one of several units in the Woodward Inc. series of synchronizer modules. The unit is part of the Woodward SPM-D11 unit. The 8440-1705 is based on a microprocessor core design and built with the intention of mounting into a three-phase, alternating current generator set. The 8440-1705 is designed to provide generator operators with automatic phase matching, as well as frequency matching and voltage matching. The 8440-1705 module is equipped with discrete and analog sets of output bias signals. The 840-1705 design combines a circuit breaker, synchronization capabilities for load and power factor control, and options for synchronous load sharing and generator protection. The 8440-1705 unit provides the operator with the option of phase matching or slip frequency synchronization when generator voltage is matched. The 8440-1705 is equipped with power parallel operation, providing true power control and true RM power calculation. Also included are soft unload capabilities, as well as power factor control, as well as power factor setting values at specified parameters. The 8440-1705 features a range of standard operating features, such as an integrated 2-wire LCD display, which provides the user with obvious on-site diagnostic and alarm indications.
