 Models 8440-1023 of the SPM-D21 family were developed and produced by the Woodward Company. These Woodward SPM-D21 modules are designed as microprocessor-based synchronizers and have been developed for integration into industrial generator systems equipped with automatic functions for frequency matching, phase matching and voltage matching. The 8440-1023 unit is built with a combination of synchronous functions with a three-phase, alternator. The 8440-1023 includes a generator circuit breaker (GCB) unit, a mains circuit breaker (MCB), and a load and power factor control module, as well as a generator and mains protection system. The 8440-1023 is designed to synchronize GCB and MCB separately. Phase matching, slip frequency synchronization and voltage matching can be realized simultaneously. The unit is equipped with a two-phase induction generator system, utility bus, and main circuit breaker. The parallel operation of mains includes true power RMS power calculation and detection, and true power control. There are also power factor capabilities, control and set values for selected parameters. The 8440-1023 is equipped with discrete outputs that allow the unit to increase and decrease the output of speed, load, voltage and power factor. The size of the unit is the standard setting of the SPM-D21 series; 144mm x 72mm x 122mm.
