Woodward's model 8273-501 is designated as one of the 2301D digital load distribution and speed control units. The 8273-501 is one of the models designed for connection and installation in ordinary, non-hazardous locations.
This 2301D model is designed with a microprocessor as the basic component that makes the device run to complete its functions. The unit comes with standard hardware components, including a load sensor, an actuator driver, and an MPU speed sensor. In addition, there are a pair of configurable analog inputs and configurable analog outputs. In addition, there is a set of eight discrete switching inputs (three of which are configurable), followed by four configurable discrete relay driver outputs.
Engine and generator speeds need to be synchronized and in the range of 90 to 3600 RPM. The frequency provided by magnetic pickups needs to be in the range of 100 to 20,000 Hz at rated speeds. Communication ports available on the 8273-501 include RS-232, RS-422, 9-pin connectors, and 1200 to 38,400 baud rates (full duplex).
