This robust design enables critical applications or processes to continue running even in the event of a system stop failure in any single component. An RX3iCPU like this is a portable control engine, programmed and configured to control different machines, processes and material handling systems in real time.

The SCHROFF MPS022 13100-203 has two separate serial ports and an IntelCeleron-M microprocessor. Its 64MB non-volatile flash memory complements the 64MB battery-supported random access memory (RAM). Local and remote extension racks are also supported. The CPU's serial backplane is designed to be compatible with expansion modules in the 90-30 Series 1/0 product line (but not with the mainframe).

SCHROFF MPS022 13100-203 uses ProficyMachineEdition, a common development environment for all GEFanuc controllers. Proficy Machine Edition is designed to create, run, and diagnose operator interfaces, motion, and control applications. Eight LED indicators on the space-saving CPU chassis help troubleshoot. Each LED is associated with a separate function, with the exception of the two leds labeled COM1 and COM2, which belong to different ports rather than different functions. The other leds are CPUOK, Run, Outputs Enabled, I/0 Force, Battery, and SysFlt- short for "system failure." l/0ForceLED Indicates whether Override is active on the present reference. Other LED labels are self-explanatory. The case is designed with all leds and two serial ports facing forward for easy access and viewing.
