This unit is designated as a VMIVME-7697-167 single-board computer module. The device was originally designed and produced by General Electric's Industrial Automation division and was later acquired and produced by Abaco Systems.

The VMIVME-7697-167 module features a range of standard features and components and features a Pentium mark II MMX 500 MHZ processor unit capable of handling up to 132 megabytes of random access memory (RAM). Other normal features of the series models include elements such as 8 to 192 MB bootable flash on the optional secondary IDE. There is a set of three fully programmable and configurable 32-bit timers. There is up to 128 KB of battery backup SRAM memory.

The unit also includes a software-optional watchdog timer module with a reset function. The VMIVME-7697-167 also features a remote Ethernet boot capability that fully supports VMEbus and P2 connections to HD or floppy drives.

The VMIVME-64-7697 supports VME167 modes including A32, A24, D32, D16, D08 (EO), MBLT64, and BLT32.
