This GE Fanuc/VMIC VMIVME-4100 4, 8, 12 or 16-channel 12-bit digital-to-analog converter board offers ±10 V output with positive true offset binary input coding. The DAC board features dual buffered data latches, buffered voltage outputs, and optional external or internal update control strobes. In test mode, the analog output is multiplexed to the analog test bus on the VME P2 backplane (user I/O pin) for analog-to-digital conversion via the VMIC's analog-to-digital Converter (ADC) board (VMIVME-3100). Front panel fault leds are provided for quick identification of fault locations.
A unique feature of the VMIVME-4100 is the built-in test logic, which allows testing of any analog output channel by using an onboard multiplexer and the VMIVME-3100 ADC board. In test mode, field connections via connector P3 can be isolated, and any of the 16 channels can be routed to the 12-bit ADC board via the VMIC's analog backplane (AMXbusTM). The programmable ADC board converts the analog signal to a 12-bit word and compares it with the original 12-bit word written to the DAC board. In this way, each of the 16 analog output channels can be verified without interfering with field-connected devices. The analog output channel can also be multiplexed to the analog test bus while controlling P3 connections to field devices to provide real-time fault detection of the output. If the motherboard does not pass the self-test, the fault LED on the front panel may light up to indicate that the motherboard is in a faulty state.
The VMIVME-4100 module is part of the VMIC family of devices, a series of digital-to-analog converter boards and CPU units. These units were a product of GE's Industrial Automation division and were later acquired after being withdrawn from GE's production and then manufactured by Abaco Systems. These VMIC modules are available from AX Control's product inventory, which has been fully refurbished, repaired and optimized to meet the latest industry standards.
The VMIVME-4100 models are available in a range of 4, 8, 12 or 16-channel options with 12-bit digital mode capabilities. It is capable of providing plus or minus 10 V outputs with positive, true offset, binary input encoding.
The converter board features dual buffered data latches, buffered voltage outputs, and optional external or internal update control strobes. In test mode, the analog output is multiplexed to the analog test bus on the VME P2 backplane (user I/O pin) for analog-to-digital conversion via the VMIC's analog-to-digital Converter (ADC) board (VMIVME-3100).
