The Abaco/VMIC VME-3128 / VME-3128A scanning 14-bit A/D converter board provides excellent dynamic range and analog input channel density. Supports multiple operation modes, including continuous scanning, data burst, external synchronization, and single-channel operation. These boards are designed to be connected directly to signal conditioning boards to digitize the output of thermocouples, RTDS and strain gauges.


During a scan operation, individual channel gains can be downloaded for real-time selection, or a fixed gain common to all channels can be configured for the board. Multiple boards can be synchronized together so that up to <> boards start each scan simultaneously.


The VMIVME-3128 is a series of GE FANUC converter modules. These units are designed to support up to 64 channels (single-ended or differential) and a wide range of analog inputs. These boards support switching between multiple modes of operation, such as automatic scanning, single channel random polling, timed bursts, locally triggered bursts, remote triggered bursts, and gain loading.


There are up to 124 dual-port data registers capable of providing storage, enabling the machine to scan each channel continuously. Scanning mode is enabled immediately after the device is powered on and the system is reset, or can be performed under program control. A dual-port register within the device allows access to the VMEbus at any time in order to read the latest stored data.


The VMIVME-3128 unit itself is equipped with a variety of features, such as 64 differential and single-ended inputs. The unit is fully capable of 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion and operates at a conversion rate of 58 kHz. Program optional scanning can achieve rates of 16, 32, 48 or 64 channels at a time. Input channels are consistently digitized and stored. These inputs also prevent overvoltage charging.


Externally, the unit is equipped with a trigger that synchronizes multiple boards simultaneously. The VMIVME-3128 unit is designed for plant automation, instrumentation, and process control and monitoring
