The IC698CPE020 is a rack-mounted central processing module (CPU) for Emerson Automation's PACSystem RX7i Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform, formerly known as GE Intelligence Platform (GE IP). This CPU module is mainly used to process downloaded user programs to execute and drive connected electrical loads.
The IC698CPE020 is equipped with a Pentium III, 700 MHz microprocessor and integrates 10 MB of user memory and 10 MB of non-volatile or flash memory. It has I/O memory designed to handle discrete %I and %Q of up to 32Kbits, and analog %AI and %AQ of up to 32K words. Up to 512 blocks can be downloaded to the processor, with a maximum single block size of 128 KB.
The CPU has two (2) built-in Ethernet ports, supports 10/100 mbps transmission rate, is compatible with Ethernet Global Data (EGD), TCP/IP communication services, and uses SRTP, Modbus/TCP server, and Modbus/TCP client. It can also be used as a primary programming and configuration port. These Ethernet ports are embedded switch ports that require only one Ethernet I/P address. For CPU version 5.0 or later, these CPU ports can be used for time synchronization.
In addition to the Ethernet port, the module has three (3) isolated serial ports that support the RS232 and RS485 standards. Two (2) serial ports can be used for data communication as these ports are compatible with Modbus RTU Slave, SNP, serial I/O. The remaining serial ports are used as Ethernet web manager ports.
The IC698CPE020 is equipped with upgradable firmware with integrated data monitoring capabilities. It has a total of 16 Web servers and FTP connections.

The GE Fanuc IC698CPE020 CPU supports blocks of up to 512 KB and has a reference data table with 32 Kilobits of %I and %Q discrete data and up to 32 KB of %AI and %AQ analog data. The IC698CPE020 CPU is located in slot 7 of the Rx1i I/O rack and has a maximum backplane current consumption rating of 2.5 amps at 3 volts DC. It has three rear serial ports, an RS-485 port, an RS-232 port, and an RS-232 manager port, as well as a dual embedded Ethernet port for high-speed TCP/IP communication.
