The IC687BEM744 controller is a FIP bus controller in GE Fanuc Automation's Rx7i PACsystem series of programmable logic controllers. The controller can be used in any system containing Rx7i series compatible devices. Up to four FIP bus controllers can be included in the PLC expansion rack, but it is not recommended to install more than four. This particular bus controller is one of 4 models in the family, and it consists of a controller that is only half the size, so it can take up half the slot. The GE Fanuc Automation IC687BEM744 FIP bus controller can be installed in an integrated rack and operates at 2.5 MHZ. The controller can be used as an I/O controller for different devices in an I/O nest, as well as an I/O controller for different field control I/O modules in registered locations on the FIP bus.

The GE Fanuc Automation IC687BEM744 FIP bus controller can be used with 128 devices, which can be field control stations, remote I/O racks, general-purpose devices, and 90-70 series PLCS.
