The GE Fanuc IC697CPU789 module is a 66-bit scalable central processing unit (CPU) for IC32 TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) systems. The single-slot IC697CPU789 module supports 512 KB of battery backup extended memory in the same slot. Out of 512 KB of memory, up to 200 KB is available for the user's applications and data. The IC697CPU789 module supports discrete inputs/outputs of arbitrary mixes in up to 12,000 simplex modes, 2048 voting discrete inputs, and 2048 voting discrete outputs. The module also supports 8000 analog inputs in simplex mode, 8000 analog outputs in simplex mode, and 1024 analog voting inputs. The IC697CPU789 module has an 80386DX processor with a clock speed of 16 MHZ. The IC697CPU789 module communicates with other PLC modules through the VME-compatible rack backplane.
The IC697CPU789 module supports a variety of option modules, including alphanumeric display coprocessors, IC660/IC661 I/O bus controllers, I/O link interfaces, and IC697 series discrete and analog I/O modules. Oems and system integrators are responsible for the proper installation and operation of this product. PLC and module installation must comply with the guidelines contained in the hardware installation manual. After the IC697CPU789 module is installed and the system power is turned on, the module should be powered on and the top LED should start blinking. After diagnosis is complete, the top LED is stable, and the second and third leds remain off. You are now ready to program the CPU. After programming, the toggle switch on the CPU can be moved to the desired position. The serial port supports RS-422 and RS-485 serial communication protocols. The power required for the module is 6.5 amps of current from a 1-volt DC PLC bus.
