The GE Fanuc IC697ALG321 analog input module is a series 90-70 solid state input interface designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to enable industrial machine users to reduce cabling installation time and simplify troubleshooting procedures. It comes with 4 separate voltage channels that can be connected to any type of actuator, indicator or converter compatible with GE Fanuc 90-70 series control architecture. The GE Fanuc IC697ALG321 analog input module is installed by plugging into any available slot on the GE Fanuc programmable Logic Controller backplane, which should be disconnected from the power supply to avoid arcing, as hot-swap-operation is not supported. When the IC697ALG321 analog input module is properly installed in place, the technician will hear a clicking sound. All wiring connections are connected directly to individual terminal boards rather than to the analog input module.


The IC697ALG321 analog input module is GE Fanuc's advanced analog voltage input module. It belongs to GE's 90-30 series of PLC or programmable logic controllers. It allows unipolar and bipolar voltage input ranges. Users can also set alarm limits for two ranges, such as upper or lower alarm limits. MS-DOS configuration software provides all the features needed to configure module parameters for its host system, such as channel configuration, mode selection, alarm Settings, range selection, and I/O scan set configuration facilities. The converted analog data is stored on the PLC CPU in 2 complement format. It also has status bits that are returned to the PLC's CPU to provide data about module operations.


The input filter response frequency of the IC697ALG321 analog input module is 41 Hz in single-ended mode and 82 Hz in differential mode. The received data signal is converted to a digital signal by a 12-bit converter for processing in the PLC's CPU. For resolution and accuracy, the converted data will also be placed in 16-bit WORD format. The CPU does not change any of the received values in the input, but converts and processes the signal directly as needed before putting it into WORD format. The basic configuration of the module can be easily performed by the user using the Logicmaster software or the interface provided by the handheld programmer. Note that the handheld programmer does not provide tools for configuring active scan channels. All configuration data will be saved in the EEPROM of the CPU in the PLC.



The GE Fanuc IC697ALG321 analog input module is made of hard and durable plastic and comes out of the factory with an open housing that cannot or is intended to provide adequate protection against high humidity or prevent dust or water from entering the device. The GE Fanuc IC697ALG321 analog input module shall be installed in a properly protected housing to keep it clean and safe and within the manufacturer's recommended environmental parameters for troup-free operation. The module has a voltage input range of -10 to +10 volts AC, a resolution of 16 bits and a conversion rate of 2 milliseconds.
