The GE Fanuc IC693CMMAAUI cable is an Ethernet transceiver cable for the GE IC693CMM321 Ethernet module. The IC693CMM321 cable provides an interface that allows users to connect their 30-693 series PLCS to an Ethernet network via an external transceiver and IC90CMMAAUI cable. The IC693CMMAAUI cable allows the PLC to communicate with other devices and hosts on the Ethernet network. The Ethernet interface provides client and server functions. In client mode, the interface can start communicating with other hosts on the Ethernet network. This is performed from the COMMREQ function block of the ladder diagram program. In server mode, the interface is programmed to respond to requests from other hosts acting as clients or from hosts using the host Communication Toolkit software.

The Ethernet interface on the PLC supports direct connection of the PLC to an Ethernet-based network, data transfer with other devices, simultaneous communication with multiple devices and up to 16 servers, communication with equipment from other vendors, and system maintenance using diagnostic tools. The Ethernet interface cannot be used to connect to 90-30, 20 series, or miniature handheld programmers. Up to 30 Ethernet modules can be installed on the 2-90 series baseboard. The Ethernet interface provides the following four status leds: normal, SER, LAN, and statistics LED. The restart button on the module can be used to perform the following 4 functions: LED test, restart and reload, restart, restart and enter the maintenance facility. The restart button cannot be accessed when the front cover of the module is closed. The Ethernet module also has 2 serial ports. The RS-232 station manager port can be used to connect terminal emulators or terminals to an Ethernet interface, and the RS-485 firmware upgrade port can be used to upgrade module software.
