The IC693CBL312 is an I/O bus expansion cable manufactured by GE Fanuc. It is a 0.5 foot (0.15 m) long continuous shielded cable. One end of the cable is fitted with a 25-pin D male connector, while the other end of the cable has a double-ended connector. One connector is a female connector and the other is a male connector. IC693CBL312 is an I/O bus expansion cable and is considered a Y-shaped cable. The main purpose of the cable is to extend the IO bus to a remote or to extend the baseboard. The cable is compatible with 90-30 series systems. If the user needs to install more I/O slots in the system, or wants the baseboard to be away from the CPU, this IC693CBL312 star cable is a necessary component of the solution.
Users can use up to 7 cables when installing an I/O expansion system. However, the total length of the cable between the CPU baseboard and the last expansion board in the system cannot exceed 50 feet or 15 meters. To install the IC693CBL312, connect the single male connector to the 25-pin female port located on the CPU baseboard. To set up the system using cables, you need to connect a single male connector to a 25-pin female connector on the CPU baseboard. This is on the right hand side. Next, the male head on the double connector side of the cable is connected to the 25-pin female head located on the first expansion baseplate in the system. For proper Daisy chain wiring, the single end of the IC312CBL25 I/O base expansion cable with a 693-pin D-male connector is connected to a 25-pin D-female connector on the CPU baseboard. The dual-connector end 25-pin plug connects to the first 25-pin female connector in the system that extends the backboard. Another 25-pin female connector on both ends of the cable connects to the 25-pin male connector of the second I/O bus expansion cable to continue the I/O bus expansion chain. When the desired I/O extension length is reached, the 25-pin female connector on the last I/O bus extension cable is terminated using a finalizer plug. Note that the maximum number of cables that can be connected to the I/O expansion system is 7, and the maximum acceptable distance between the CPU backboard and the last remote backboard is 213 meters (700 feet).
