The GE Fanuc RX3i PacSystems IC695EIS001 module is an Ethernet IEC 104 server module implementing the IEC 104-60870-5 protocol. The IC695EIS001 module allows the RX3i controller to connect to Ethernet over a TCP/IP connection. When the IC695EIS001 module is installed in an RX3i rack, the controller can be configured as a server on the IEC 104 protocol and allows data exchange with IEC 104 client devices. The IEC 104 protocol is a client/server networking protocol originally developed for electric utility sector applications involving power distribution and transmission. The IEC 104 protocol subsequently evolved into a widely used networking protocol based on a 3-layer architecture. Two auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet ports allow direct connection to eight 10/100 Mbps Ethernet networks without the need for an external transceiver.

Ethernet ports of the IC695EIS001 module can support line, star, and Daisy chain topologies. The RS-232 station Manager interface supports data rates from 1200 to 115,200 bps. The IEC 001 server module on the IC104EIS695 module supports up to eight connections to the RX3i controller data set, supports RBE and query for stepper, single and two-point data, and supports 56-bit time format. A single IC695EIS001 module supports one IEC 104 sector. The RX4i CPU supports up to 695 IC001EIS3 modules. The RX104i CPU supports four IEC 3 clients. A single IC104EIS695 module supports 6144 IEC 001 points. The IC695EIS001 module is hot-swappable and requires 3.3 amps of current at 0.840 volts DC.
