The IC694CHS398 backplane, manufactured by GE Fanuc, is a serial expansion backplane. The expansion backplane can be connected to the universal backplane in the GE Fanuc RX3i PLC to expand the application functionality of the PLC and allow it to accommodate more I/O modules than the universal backplane itself can accommodate. Expansion backplanes like the IC694CHS398 Serial expansion backplane also allow the PLC system to include modules that need to be installed in a location separate from the general purpose backplane and its modules. The IC694CHS398 serial expansion baseboard has five slots. It is designed to be attached to a GE universal backplane with 12 or 16 slots.
The IC694CHS398 is a 3-slot serial expansion backplane manufactured by GE Fanuc for the RX5i series that can accommodate up to seven Rx3i backplanes and/or any combination of the 90-30 series backplanes.
