The IC694BEM321 is a PACSystems RX3i master controller module that provides I/O link communication with up to 16 slave stations if required. This module acts as the master module on the proprietary GE I/O LINK. The host in the setup can receive 1024 discrete inputs from the slave and send up to 1024 discrete outputs.

The module can be installed on any available I/O slot in the RX3i or 90-30 series systems. However, for the best overall performance, it should be installed in the main or expansion backplane. The availability of power will determine the maximum number of I/O links that can be installed. If multiple I/O link master modules are located in the same PLC system, they must be placed on separate I/O links to operate.

The fuse protects the +5 volt signal pin used in the fiber adapter cable and can be replaced with A 0.5A quick fuse if required. The module has three separate leds that show the status of communication and operation. The link restart button can be used to restart the link when a fault occurs. However, restarting a link while the link is running has no impact on the system. If a failure does occur, all slave stations must be restarted before a link restart can be used. The IC694BEM321 has a front module with a 20-pin Honda-type connector. This is used to connect to the first slave station on an I/O link. All signals of this unit are compatible with RS422/485.
