The IC694ALG233 is a PACSystems RX16i analog current input module with three single-ended input channels. Each input can be configured using configuration software for three input ranges: 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, and 4 to 20 mA Enhanced.
Three ranges provide high and low alarm limits. For the 4 to 20 mA enhanced range, low alarm limits can be activated to detect input currents from 4 mA to 0 mA; This provides open circuit fault detection in 4 to 20 mA enhanced applications. In addition, the IC694ALG233 reports module status and external power status to the CPU through its assigned program reference address. IC694ALG233 must be installed in the I/O slot with serial connector in the RX3i system.
The IC694ALG233 module can be configured using software. No jumper is required. Open circuit detection for all inputs is available in an enhanced range of 4 to 20 mA. Configurable scaling and offset and fault reporting are other useful features. The module supports diagnostic fault contacts in logic programs and supports firmware upgrades. Includes positive and negative rate of change alerts and module serial number/revision/date code displays. The module also supports hot insertion/removal.
The module status can be easily determined by an illuminated LED, as shown below. ON indicates that the module is correctly configured. OFF indicates that there is no baseboard power supply, or the software may not be running. If the LED flashes continuously and rapidly, there is a configuration data problem. Blinking slowly and then off indicates a power-on diagnosis failure or code execution error. User Power LED Determines if external 24 VDC power supply is appropriate.
The IC16ALG694 input module has 233 channels, each of which can be configured with the following input ranges: 0 to 20 mah, enhanced 4 to 20 mah, and normal 4 to 20 mah. The upper and lower alarm limits can also be configured via software. For an enhanced current range of 4 to 20 mA, a low alarm limit can be configured to detect input currents between 4 and 20 mA. This function can be used to provide open circuit detection in enhanced current rating applications ranging from 4 to 20 mA. The IC694ALG233 input module also reports the module status and external power supply status to the system CPU using the assigned program reference address.
