The controller IS420UCSCH1B is another version of the UCSC controller with quad-core and runs on the 1.2GHz AMD g series. The controller was designed by General Electric for the Mark VIe series. This controller is the master controller mentioned in the GEH-6855 Volume II manual and is described as a real-time supervisor controller with the QNX Neutrino multitasking operating system. The QNX operating system is used for highly reliable, high-speed industrial applications. Another technology used by the controller is embedded Field Agent (EMA) technology, which facilitates the application of Predix cloud-based applications and potential web applications over a stable connection, all working together to transfer real-time data to a connected controller.

In contrast to other controllers in the Mark VIe family where all inputs and outputs pass through the backplane, the IS420UCSCH1B controller does not use the backplane and does not host any I/O applications. The software and hardware architecture used with this controller will guarantee that a single application input point will not be lost if the controller must be shut down for repair or maintenance.

The IS420UCSCH1B controller has a variety of different ports for Ethernet interfaces, with three ports, each for a different redundant application. When used in a TMR redundant application, all three ports are used, whereas in a dual redundant application, only S/SL2 and R/SL1 ports are used. RJ45 connectors and 10Base-TX/ 100 Vase-TX twisted pair cables are paired with ports for any redundant application.
