The IC693MDL752,5/24 volt direct current (TTL) negative logic output module has 32 negative logic or perfusion type output points (active at low levels) and uses 32-bit discrete %Q output data. The outputs are divided into four separate groups (labeled A through D), each consisting of eight outputs (numbered 1 through 8), each with its own unique commonality. It can be installed in any 90-30 series Programmable logic controller (PLC) system with 5 or 10 I/O slot substrates. Each group has user I/O connectors with two pins. Each pin on these connectors has a current handling capacity of 3 amps. It is recommended to connect to two pins when connecting the common end, but is required for applications that require high currents (between 3 and 4 amps, for example).


The IC693MDL752 operates in two modes: transistor-transistor logic (TTL) and 12/24V mode. In TTL mode, each output can switch the user load on +5 VDC. In 12/24V mode, the user load can be switched between +12 and -24 VDC. In addition, in each mode (TTL and 12/24V), the maximum current at each point of the output point is 25 mA and 0.5A, respectively. Each output group in the module (A through D) can be used in a mode of operation appropriate to the load requirements of a particular task or application. Group A can be applied to TTL load tasks, Group B can be applied to 12 VDC loads, and Group C and Group D can be applied to 24 VDC load tasks. However, when in mixed mode (TTL and inductive type loads), it is important to recognize electrical noise and its effects.


The user load device is connected to the module via two 24-pin male connectors located on the front of the module. The connectors on the right are connected to group A and Group B output points, while the connectors on the left are connected to group C and Group D output points. The optical coupler on the module provides backplane isolation between the field side and the logical side. The top of the module also has LED indicators that mark each output accordingly, indicating the active (ON) or inactive (OFF) status of each output point. No special faults or alarm diagnoses were reported.


Each output point has an internal pull-up resistor. When the field-effect transistor (FET) at the output point is turned off, the resistance is designed to provide a high logic level for the TTL task. It does this by pulling the output up to the positive side of the user's power input, which is typically +5V for TTL tasks. Stopping the CPU forces all 32 output points to shut down, and the user must supply power to provide current to the load. The module provides the grid drive to the output device using the minimum power provided by the user.
