The IC697CGR935 is a 90-70 series hot standby CPU from Emerson Automation (formerly GE Fanuc). The controller is specifically designed for critical augmentation applications that require increased uptime and availability. This processor is used in conjunction with another IC697CGR935 to form a redundant or hot standby pair.
Redundancy is achieved by installing a pair of IC697CGR935s. One is designated as the primary controller and the other as the secondary controller. Both are powered on and actively synchronize user logic. Once the primary controller fails, the secondary controller automatically takes over without starting the device, so it is called the hot standby controller. With this pair of controllers, users can experience an uninterrupted transfer of control from one CPU to another without significant interruptions in the process.
The processor mainly has built-in 1 MB of fast memory and I/O memory, which can accommodate any combination of 12K discrete inputs and 12K discrete outputs and analog I/O devices up to 8K. It is equipped with a 96 MHz, 80486DX4 microprocessor and has a Boolean execution speed of 0.4 microseconds. It comes with one (1) RS232 serial interface; Two (2) RS485 ports. All protocols supported by the serial interface are SNP slaves only. The controller has battery backup RAM that is compatible to replace the IC697ACC701 lithium battery, which has a shelf life of 5 years at 20 C (68 F) and memory retention for 6 months when not powered on.
The IC697CGR935 has a current consumption of 3.1A, operating temperature requirements of 0 to 60C (32F to 140F), and forced ventilation of 0 to 50C (32F to 122F), without forced ventilation.
