The GE/Bently Nevada 3300 XL NSv proximity sensor system is designed for use with centrifugal air compressors, refrigeration compressors, process gas compressors, and other machines with stringent installation requirements. The 3300 XL NSv proximity Sensor system includes:
• 3300 NSv probe • 3300 NSv extension cable
• 3300 XL NSv proximity sensor.
The primary use of the 3300 XL NSv sensor system is for countersunk, side-view or rear-view limiting the use of standard Bentley area Nevada 3300 and 3300 XL 5 and 8 mm sensor systems. It is also ideal for small target applications, such as measuring the axial position of flat targets with radial vibrations less than 51 mm (2 in) or less than 15 mm (0.6 in) on smaller axes. It is mainly used in the following applications of oil film bearing machines if there is a small shaft or a reduced side view:
Radial vibration and radial position measurement Axial (thrust) position measurement Tachometer and zero speed measurement
• Phase reference (key phase) signal.
The 3300 XL NSv sensor system design enables it to replace the 3300 RAM sensor system and the 3000 Series or 7000 Series 190 sensor system. Upgrading from a 3300 RAM system to a 3300 XL NSv system can use existing probes, extension cables, and a monitoring system with a 3300 XL NSv proximity sensor. When upgrading from a 3000 series or 7000 series sensor system, the probe, extension cable, and proximity sensor must be replaced with an NSv assembly.
The 3300 XL NSv sensor system has an average scale factor of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil), which is the most common output for eddy current sensors. Its enhanced side-view and small-target features give it a shorter linear range than the Bentley Nevada 3300 XL series 5 mm and 8 mm sensor systems. The 1.5 mm (60 mils) linear range exceeds the linear range of the 3000 Series 190 sensor system.
