The EGD gateway provides Ethernet communication between 3500 monitoring systems and plant information systems, such as distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCS), or human machine interfaces (HMI). The communication gateway module collects static data from the modules in the rack via a high-speed internal network and sends this data to the information system at pre-selected intervals. The EGD gateway supports Ethernet Global Data (EGD) protocol version 2.01. This module allows optimal communication of multiple independent schedules by configuring each generated switch.
